The "Unsung" or "Little Sung" Heroes
If you're at all the sort of reader I am, you probably follow book groups and authors on social media. I keep up with a lot of them on Facebook. I'm not as savvy as I need to be to use many of the social media platforms, so I concentrate on one. Maybe one day I'll sharpen my skillset and branch out.
While I was on Facebook one morning perusing my page for new books, I noticed there was a lot of talk about books that are rarely mentioned, but once read seem to be gems of the reading world. They simply don't get the buzz some other authors do. Immediately, two or three authors jumped to my mind! I'm going to share three of them with you here.
Kicking it off with Aaron Stander. I can't remember how I came upon Aaron's work, but have truly loved the eleven mysteries he's written set in Michigan, featuring Sheriff Ray Elkins. They appeal to me in two ways. First and foremost, they are well-constructed mysteries with great, sometimes quirky, characters. In some ways they put me in mind of a more classical mystery story. Second, the setting of the upper peninsula of Michigan. Aaron writes his locales so descriptively you can see the fall leaves, the shelf ice, and the snowdrifts in your mind's eye. He's an artist behind his keyboard!

Next up is another favorite of mine, Allen Eskens. Although Allen has written many books, several of which I've read, and is the recipient of some important writing awards, I simply don't believe his work gets the credit it deserves. My first foray into Allen's world was through The Life We Bury, which is the first in a series featuring Joe Talbert. Joe, a college student, sets out to write the story of a wrongly convicted Vietnam veteran. What a story it is! It earned a five star review from me, which can be found at this link Dianna's Review.

Finally, is Katie Mettner. Katie is a romance author, who happens to be disabled. While I'm not a regular reader of the romance genre, I am a fan of Katie's because her books are much more than that. They feature characters with disabilities and do it in such a way that the primary focus is on the person. However, being an amputee herself, Katies doesn't shy away from the realities her disabled characters face. In my mind, Katie informs us as much as she entertains. There are some who would, and probably do, turn away of these books, but I find them uplifting and enlightening.
You need to check out Katie's info here, Katie Mettner She has these three books coming out yet this year.
While I've only featured three of my "unsung" or "little sung" heroes, I'm sure there are many more out there. Please feel free to share your favorites with me in the comments. Together perhaps we can get more readers singing their praises!
Thank you so much for introducing your readers to the Secure One Series and my work. :) I'm thrilled that you love my work and will definitely check out the other authors listed!
